Bucket Lists

Do you have a bucket list?

I wrote my first bucket list at 9, and have been updating it annually ever since. While a few things have dropped off the list as I aged (like acting in a television commercial and writing a hit pop song), a few have been crossed off because I’ve accomplished them. I’ve visited New York, ran a 10k, toured the Lord of the Rings Hobbiton set in New Zealand, appeared on national television and published a book sold on shelves at Chapters nationally. I’ve bungeed, trapeezed, skydived, learned to play roller derby, swam with sharks, rode in a helicopter, shot an AK47 and learned to surf. (Check out some of the photos-or-it-didn’t-happen shots below.)

Here’s my current bucket list:

  • Take cooking classes in Thailand
  • Hike the West Coast trail in British Columbia
  • Have a beer at Oktoberfest in Munich
  • Attend Burning Man and Bonnaroo
  • Swim with dolphins
  • See the Northern Lights in Yellowknife
  • Run a half marathon

I was inspired to revisit my Bucket List because KFC is launching a #KFCBucketList contest on May 12. From May 12 until June 15, with the purchase of any bucket or combo, you’ll receive a game card that gives you a 1 in 3 chance of winning your ultimate bucket list! There are three grand prizes of $10,000 to build your own dream vacation, plus:

I love this bucket list! I need to update mine, and this was a great reminder. I should also take stock of the things that I’ve already done that are pretty cool too.

Totally hit enter before I said what was on my bucket list. 1. Walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain; 2. Visiting the place in Russia where my grandparents were born; 3. Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.

    Is that good enough? 🙂

One day, very far into the future I hope to finish an Ironman.
For now though I will stick to these few things; West Coast trail, pyramids in Egypt and Great Wall of China.

I have always wanted to create a bucket list. But if it is written down then I have to complete it and that scares me more then having a bucket list. Does that make sense??
    1. Be on TV
    2. Drive a car on a race track
    3. Skydive – I’m scared of heights.

Jenn, I’ve been on tv and have skydived – both scary!

My bucket list definitely needs to be updated. There are so many things I’d like to do that it’s huge. 3 off the top of my head – 1. learn to scuba dive and visit great barrier reef. 2. Drink a cafe au lait in Paris 3. african photo safari.

West coast trail is on our family bucket list too! – We’re planning to do it in about 6 years (my son is just turning 5) .

  7. My bucket list is more of a daily thing right now… it includes things like: shower; feed children; read some of my book. I guess I need to think bigger!

  8. I would love to see every countries.

  9. I love the idea of bucket lists, so I really need to sit down and write mine out! I believe if you put it out to the universe you can make it happen!

  10. My bucket list includes travelling to every continent at least once.

Years ago, roommates and I had our “death day lists” – same thing, more macabre name! I should revisit and reassess, but I remember things like meeting Tom Hanks, going to Wales, etc.

  13. This is our outdoor adventure bucket list for the summer:
